“I needed clothes, and you gave me something to wear.” (Matthew 25:36)
A Family Friendly Mission!
Woods Chapel operates a Children’s Clothing Closet in the Missions Building, located in the rear parking lot of the church.
The purpose of the Closet is to provide free clothing and coats for infants, toddlers and children of families in need.

Although the Closet is not open to the general public, referrals are accepted from Division of Family Services, the Community Services League, and school counselors in the Greater Kansas City area. Information on the child’s gender, age & clothing size are emailed to the Missions Director, who then contacts volunteers to pull outfits for the child.
The closet relies heavily on the generosity of WCC members, with donations of new and gently-used clothing making up 100% of its inventory. Over 150 outfits are donated each month to children in need.
Teams of clothing sorters meet on a regular basis to sort through the donations and catalog the clothes based on size and gender.
Due to space and health regulations, the closet does NOT accept used underwear, socks, swimsuits, pajamas, belts or shoes.
How can you help?
Donate new or gently used clothing (no underwear or swimsuits, please)
Join a sorting team and help sort – no need to sign up in advance, just show up at the designated time! Sorting is done in the Missions building in the back partking lot of the church. See above for the current sorting schedule.
Designate monetary donations by putting “Children’s Clothing Closet” on the memo line of your check and place in the collection basket on Sunday mornings. Donations are used to purchase items that are low in inventory, such as jeans.
