The Crossroads Career Network ministry is a faith-based career counseling program available to anyone who is seeking God’s plan for their professional lives. We walk with you through six proven steps to find God’s calling for you. Our weekly meetings give you an opportunity to share with others your frustrations as well as your victories. Our Career Explorer’s Guide and Crossroads web portal help you put together your plan. Our ministry leaders work one-on-one with you to guide you through the spiritual, emotional and practical aspects of taking these steps.

Meetings: Held every Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall.

From Leader Dave Templeman . . .

The stress of job uncertainty and job loss ranks right up there with death and divorce. There is emotional and financial stress on the entire family. Searching for a new opportunity takes time, commitment and tenacity. There are three important steps to take in this difficult time:

Communicate. If you’re feeling down talk about it. Share your fears. Talk about new opportunities to come.
Make a plan. Think of the next steps you can take. Take charge of your life; don't let the situation take charge of you.
Finally, and most importantly, trust God. He has always and will continue to provide what you need (1 Tim 6:17) and even though it's hard to see sometimes He has a wonderful plan for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

From Kristi Kempin, Feb. 2009 . . .

I started attending Crossroads in Sept 2007, I was finishing up my MBA and I had not worked in my field (Marketing) for about 5 years -since Ainsley was born- and I was very concerned about trying to find a job without recent experience. Without the support of Crossroads, I truly do not think I would have progressed as quickly as I did. I graduated in January 2008 & began working February 2008; I have now been there one year.

I helped facilitate the group until Rich [Kristi’s husband] was laid off in April 2008. At that point I stopped attending so Rich could have a place to vent his frustrations & receive support without me looking over his shoulder. Rich had been unhappy with his job—he had been in production management—so he was trying to change the type of job & industry. With the support & help from Crossroads, he found a position in September & has now been working for almost five months.

I cannot express enough how vital Crossroads was to both of us. It teaches you how to look for the right job for you & helps you focus on how important God is to your life.

From Paula Dunn, Feb. 2009 . . .

I was only involved in the Career Connection Network for a couple of months. However, I can't say enough positive things about it. I had been through two layoffs at that time: one voluntary, one not. I had already found what I believed was the "dream position" for me when I learned about the group.   I had no idea if I would be able to land this position and my confidence was playing hide and seek! At my first meeting, I encountered an incredible source of encouragement in John Renken. I found others who were going through similar challenges and was amazed, over the course of several weekly meetings, at the level of encouragement, networking and genuine leads provided by all the members of the group. While I can't ultimately say that I got my job through the Career Network, I know that I was able to present myself more confidently and negotiated a higher beginning salary because of what I learned through Dave and all the members of the Career Network group. I highly recommend this group to any person who is considering making a change in their work life.
