The Mozambique Initiative is a Missouri Conference ministry that partners churches, groups and individuals of the UMC in Missouri with congregations and districts of The United Methodist Church in Mozambique. These partnerships strengthen the church in Mozambique and are the backbone of Missouri's mission and ministry. The covenants have literally saved lives by putting food on the table and building shelter for pastor families.

WCC’s sister church is called Bispo Escrivao Zunguze, named after the Bishop who started the church. Bispo UMC is located in Zimpeto, which is near Maputo. Rev. Berta Antonio Felliciano is the pastor. In 2010 WCC's support enabled Bispo to build a new chapel, hoping to allow over 500 to worship inside.

Project 20/20 is a human service project that protects and improves the sight of disadvantaged persons of all faiths in the underdeveloped areas of the world where medical care for the poor is very limited. The program provides eyeglasses to medical teams that provide the poor with professional eye care free of charge. This non-profit, volunteer-based program is sponsored by the United Methodist Church as a response to people in need regardless of their faith. You can help by donating your used eye glasses! Stop by the Missions table for drop offs or questions!
