Mission Trips

July 21-26, 2013 (general visit and light construction)
August 7-11, 2013 (medical)
Due to the strong support from our congregation, Woods Chapel has made a commitment to the Rainbow Network out of Springfield, MO to sponsor the village of Los Pinos, Nicaragua. We will be participating through health/nutrition, housing, education and economic development. An e-mail group has been created for all those interested in receiving details of this mission. If you are not currently receiving e-mails regarding Nicaragua but would like to be added to the list, please contact Stephanie Mutert at stephaniem@woodschapelchurch.org.

Our trips to the Falmouth, Jamaica, clinic are designed to bring quality health care to the people of Falmouth and surrounding areas.
Our week-long trips are partnered with Graceland University. We especially encourage local physicians here to give up a week of their time to make a difference in the “Land of Wood and Water.” Dental trips have also become a part of our regular schedule. Opportunities for construction teams have allowed others to travel with medical teams to improve the conditions of the clinic, dormitory and buildings around both.

The WCC trip to Haiti will focus on disaster relief, and is conducted in partnership with the Missouri Conference’s Volunteers In Mission. Teams work to rebuild buildings at United Methodist compounds to assist in rebuilding the community gathering places. Temperatures are very hot and humid, and teams typically sleep outside on cots under mosquito nets. The Haitian people are incredibly inspiring and wonderful at hospitality.

WCC has been involved in Russian orphanage ministry since March of 2002. Since the fall of 2008, we have sponsored the Velikoretskoye orphanage in the Kirov region. Each of the 50 kids in the orphanage is sponsored by families at Woods Chapel. The sponsorship is done in partnership with Children’s HopeChest, a Colorado-based non-profit organization. Each sponsor, or American friend, makes a commitment to write to the child at least once each month, pray for the child and contribute $34 each month to Children's HopeChest on behalf of the child and the entire orphanage. A trip to the orphanage is scheduled each November, and is open to anyone with a heart for orphans.
