North Carolina Disaster Response Trip

The cost of this trip is approximately $700.00. This price may fluctuate slightly based on flight cost, and the number of people traveling. The final cost will be determined by April 1, 2019.

Project Description:

North Carolina (NC) is officially in the recovery phase. Our site manager, Greg, has provided us with very limited information, as it is hard to determine what the exact need(s) will be in 3 months. We do know that our efforts will focus on rebuilding. Typical jobs we can expect are sheetrock removal, insulation removal, insulation replace, drywall replace, and roofing. 

Greg has assured us that there is absolutely no shortage of work. 1900 families in their county qualified for FEMA, but many more didn’t and are in real need.


We plan to fly to Jacksonville, NC. The church will book all flights so we’re able to travel as a team. When we get to Jacksonville, we will rent a van at the airport and drive to Newport. It is a 52-minute drive.


During our stay in Newport, NC, we will be staying at St. James United Methodist Church. At the St. James facility, we will have access to bathrooms with showers, a full kitchen, and a “temporary bunkhouse.” The bunkhouse has private sections, called cubicles, and each cubicle has four beds. We will need to bring our own bedding.
