Position Summary
The Choral Scholar (Tenor) provides musical leadership by singing with the Chapel Choir during worship services and special events. This part-time position supports the church's worship ministry through excellent musicianship, leadership within the tenor section, occasional hymn leadership, and solo or ensemble performances.

Sing as a member of the Chapel Choir during Sunday morning worship services from 9:15-11:00 AM
Attend and participate in weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals from 6:45-8:30 PM
Sing at special services, which include Easter, Christmas Eve, and the Christmas Cantata in December
Strengthen the tenor section by providing confident vocal leadership
Learn music before rehearsal to lead the tenor section
Lead sectionals when needed. This will include knowing all voice parts and must be able to conduct during the sectional
Occasionally serve as a hymn leader, soloist, or member of a vocal ensemble/quartet. At least one rehearsal with the accompanist will be required for special music
Model professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude while serving alongside volunteer musicians
Support the mission and worship ministry of Woods Chapel Church
Give notice of at least 24 hours if cannot attend a rehearsal or a Sunday morning
Help the music librarians when needed (gathering music, take care of folders, help singers, etc.)
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Enrolled as a music major (or equivalent vocal performance program) at an accredited college or university
Strong tenor vocalist with excellent sight-reading and ensemble skills preferred
Ability to attend Wednesday evening rehearsals and Sunday morning worship services consistently
Reside within approximately 50 miles of Lee's Summit, Missouri
Must have reliable transportation
Previous choral or church music experience preferred

Position Summary
The Accompanist provides musical leadership for traditional worship by accompanying the choir, orchestra, congregation, and soloists during rehearsals, worship services, and special events. This position supports the worship ministry through excellent musicianship, thoughtful preparation, and collaborative partnership with the Traditional Music Director and volunteer musicians.

Accompany the choir and orchestra with hymns and special music
Prepare choir anthems for rehearsal four to six weeks in advance
Accompany the choir and orchestra for large works such as Christmas Cantata, Easter and multiple services on Christmas Eve
The candidate should be available for the following times / rehearsals:
Sunday morning 9:00 AM for orchestra rehearsals and 9:30 AM for choir rehearsal
Play for Traditional service at 10:00 AM each Sunday
Special music rehearsal 6:30 PM on some Wednesday evenings
Wednesday evening choir rehearsal 7:00-8:30 PM
Monthly collaboration with the choir director
Sunday evening Christmas Cantata in December
Christmas Eve all Traditional Services
Prepare music independently as needed
Model professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude while serving alongside volunteer musicians
Support the mission and worship ministry of Woods Chapel Church
Additional work may be available for accompanist at weddings and funerals held at the church
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Piano experience accompanying in a traditional church setting
Knowledge of hymns and appropriate special music for solos, preludes and postludes
An understanding of the seasons of the church and appropriate music for those seasons
Able to sightread at a moderate level for choir anthems and special music
A strong idea of theology related to music and embrace the practices of Woods Chapel Church
A team approach to work with the music department, conductors of ensembles, and staff
